We have collected links to fire codes and fire inspector offices to most of the major municipalities in the the southwest. Each city and county adopts their own code, such as IFC [International Fire Code]. For example, Tucson Fire Code implements the IFC with local modifications. In addition, Tucson Fire Department adoped Pima County addreassing requirements. You should check with your local fire department, or building department. If there is a difference in the codes the local fire department's policy usually supercedes the IFC. In general, you can't go wrong with 12" numbers if the building is closer than 50' from the street, and 15" numbers if the building is further than 50' from the street. The numbers should be attached, not painted on the building and be a high contrasting color and plain font, nothing fancy and curly, and NOT the same color as the building or camouflaged. Window decals may not be allowed in your city, but if they are that may save you time and money and look really great! Make sure you consider the contrasting background when selecting colors!
